Diamond Signature is representing a private client in Cascais who is seeking a talented Private Chef to oversee the household’s daily dining arrangements. The position offers an opportunity for a creative and organised professional to bring a thoughtful culinary approach to a family residence in one of Portugal’s most desirable coastal locations.

The household values seasonal produce, Mediterranean flavours and meals prepared with care rather than unnecessary formality. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a varied menu that supports the family’s everyday routine while also preparing more elaborate meals when the family entertains friends or welcomes visitors.​

Main duties & responsibilities

• Design weekly menus around seasonal ingredients, the family’s preferences and any agreed nutritional or dietary considerations.
• Prepare fresh breakfasts, lunches and evening meals in accordance with the household’s schedule.
• Introduce varied Mediterranean and international dishes while maintaining consistency and quality.
• Plan menus for informal gatherings and private dinners, adjusting the style of service to suit each occasion.
• Manage food purchasing, kitchen stock levels and the responsible use of ingredients to minimise waste.

Candidate requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong culinary foundation and experience preparing food to a consistently high standard in a private residence or similarly demanding environment. Applications from chefs with relevant experience in boutique hotels or high-quality restaurants may also be considered, provided they can demonstrate an appreciation for the more personal and discreet nature of private household service.​

Professional culinary training and recognised food hygiene certification are desirable requirements for this position. Fluency in English is necessary for communication with the client; knowledge of Portuguese would be an additional advantage when dealing with local suppliers.

Salary & benefits

The anticipated salary is €55,000–€65,000 gross per annum, depending on experience and the final scope of responsibilities.

The role is offered on a permanent, live-out basis, with a predominantly weekday schedule. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required when entertaining arrangements are agreed in advance. Annual leave and other employment terms will be discussed with shortlisted candidates.
